Information - Cruise Port Dover

Port of Dover -- Dover is the second busiest cruise port in the UK, located less than two hours from London by train or car. It welcomes over 170,000 cruise passengers per year.

Visit the beautiful white cliffs, Dover Castle, Dover museum and the Old Town Gaol. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town centre, many of which offer locally caught seafood.

Dover Cruise Terminals

Dover has two cruise terminals conveniently situated just off the A20 at the Western Docks. The Port of Dover is a one-mile/20-minute walk (or quick cab ride) to the town center.

Car Hire companies Avis, Enterprise and Europcar are in the arrivals hall. Hertz, National and Alamo have a freephone facility.

If you need to catch a train or bus out of Dover you will need to use a taxi. National Express coach is located at the Eastern Docks. The railway station is located near the city centre.

Terminal 1

The Victorian railway station was renovated and converted into a cruise terminal in 1996 and is now known as Cruise Terminal 1.

Terminal 1 is used by Crystal Cruises, Fred Olsen, Holland America, MSC Cruises, and Oceania Cruises.

Terminal 2

This building was purpose built as a cruise terminal in 2000 and has a sleek, modern, airport style layout, located farther down the pier.

This terminal is used by Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Costa, and MSC.

How to get to Dover

By Car :

Its about 75 miles from Dover to the centre of London.

Dover is approximately 70 miles from South London. From the M2, follow the A2 direct into Dover, or from the M20, follow the A20 again into Dover. The Western Docks Cruise Terminals are clearly signed.

By Coach :

National Express and Eurolines Coach provides regular services from Central London, London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick to Dover.

By Train :

Dover railway station is just west of the city centre. You need to catch a taxi to reach the train station. There are several trains each hour between London and Dover run by South East trains. There are regular direct rail services from London Victoria and London Charing Cross to Dover Priory station daily (travel time approx 1hr 45mins), which is close to the town centre.

By Air :

London Heathrow Airport : LHR airport is located 100 miles from Dover cruise terminals. There are no direct public transport links. The best way is to travel by National Express Bus, They make a simple one stop connection at Victoria Coach Station where you change buses. National Express buses leaves from the ferry terminal at the Eastern Docks.

Train between Heathrow and London terminate at Paddington Station. There are direct London Underground links between Paddington and both Charing Cross and Victoria, but you can also take the much cheaper London Underground all the way to Heathrow, changing trains once.

You can also use a private hire vehicle transfer from Heathrow to Dover, or rent a car with one-way drop off. By road it takes about 2 hours non-stop between Heathrow and Dover

London Gatwick Airport : This airport lies about 80 miles from the cruise terminals in Dover. There are no direct public transport links. All transfers require a connection in London.

National Express take you from Gatwick (both terminals) to London Victoria and again from Victoria to Dover. Total journey time should be around 5 hours.

There are direct London Underground links between Paddington and both Charing Cross and Victoria, but you can also take the much cheaper London Underground all the way to Heathrow, changing trains once. You can also use a private hire vehicle transfer from Gatwick to Dover, or rent a car with one-way drop-off.
