London Heathrow Airport -- LHR airport is the busiest and largest airport in the UK.

The airport is the primary hub of British Airways, BMI and Virgin Atlantic. The airport has superb rail and road links to London and other parts of the country. How to get to London by car ?

When leaving Terminals 1, 2 and 3 follow Exit signs to the access/exit tunnel. For central London follow signs for London M4 motorway. Terminal 4 is on the main A30 road, the M4 for London and the M25 Orbital motorway are signposted.

How to get to Heathrow Airport ?

By Car :

The airport is around 15 miles (24 km) west of central London. Heathrow is accessible via the nearby M4 motorway and A4 road (Terminals 1–3), the M25 motorway (Terminals 4 and 5), and the A30 road (Terminal 4).

By Coach :

National Express run a direct coach service from Heathrow Central Bus Station to London Victoria Coach Station every 30 minutes.

By Train :

In addition to the London Underground ( "the tube" ) is the Heathrow Express and Heathrow Direct train service.

The fastest way to Central London from Terminals 1, 2, 3 & 5 is the Heathrow Express. The Heathrow Express does not operate directly to Terminal 4. From T4 you have to take a connecting (Heathrow Connect) train to Terminals 1, 2, 3 and change to the Express.

The Heathrow Direct or Connect use the same route to London Paddington as the Heathrow Express but is a slower, less frequent stopping train which also serves intermediate local stations in West London. Trains leave every 30 minutes from Terminals 1, 2, 3 & 4, and via a connection from T5.

When using the underground (tube) you have to take The Piccadilly Line, which runs direct from all of Heathrow’s terminals to the very centre of London. Trains depart Terminals 4 & 5 every 10 minutes and stop at Terminals 1, 2, 3 before continuing to London.

By Bus :

Heathrow Airport has one of the United Kingdom's biggest bus stations, with many local bus services to nearby London suburbs.

# Night Bus : At night one of the few ways you can get to & from Heathrow is by using the N9 night bus service, which operates to & from Aldwych in Central London via Hammersmith.

How to get to London Gatwick Airport from Heathrow ?

By Coach : National Express run coaches between Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. Journey time is around 1 hour in normal traffic conditions. National Express run up to around 100 services a day between both airports.

By Train : There is no direct train transfer between Heathrow and Gatwick. Train options are :

Take the Heathrow Express or Connect into Paddington Station. Transfer to the tube network and take the Circle line out to London Victoria Station. Take the Southern Railways service or Gatwick Express into Gatwick Airport.

Another option is take the London Underground into Hammersmith Station via the Piccadilly Line. Transfer to the District Line and travel out to London Victoria. Transfer onto the Gatwick Express for the ride out to Gatwick Airport.

By Road : When leaving Heathrow pick up the M4 for a very small section before connecting with the M25 South Bound Anti-clockwise section. You leave the M25 at its junction 7 and travel south on the M23 for a few miles. Conveniently you will find the journey well sign posted for the entire route.

How to get to London Stansted Airport from Heathrow ?

By Coach : National Express coaches link Heathrow and Stansted airports. This coach service takes around 90-120 minutes in normal traffic conditions.

By Train : Take the Heathrow Express into Paddington Station. Transfer to the tube and take the Hammersmith and City Line out to Liverpool Street Station. Then take the Stansted Express out to Stansted Airport.

You can also take the Heathrow Connect instead of the Heathrow Express, it's cheaper but slower.

Another option is to take the tube into London on the Piccadilly Line. Change at Holborn Station onto the Central Line and travel to Liverpool Street Station, and then take the Stansted Express out to the airport.

The slowest option is to take the 285 Railair bus out to Feltham Station. From Feltham take the train into London Vauxhall. Transfer to the tube and take the Victoria line out to Tottenham Hale. Take the train out to Stansted from Tottenham Hale.

By Road : On leaving Heathrow pickup the West bound section of the M4 at Junction 4 and then join the M25 Northbound Clockwise section at its junction 15. Leave the M25 at its junction 27 and pickup the M11 motorway Northbound. You will travel around 20 miles on the M11. The journey will be well sign posted.

How to get to London Luton Airport from Heathrow ?

By Coach : National Express coaches run a regular service between Luton Airport and Heathrow and takes around an hour in normal traffic conditions.

By Train : Take the Heathrow Express or Connect train service into Paddington Station. Transfer to the tube network via the Hammersmith and City line and take the ride out to Kings Cross Station. Transfer over to the rail network and take either the Midland service from St Pancras or the First Capital Connect service from Kings Cross Thameslink to Luton Parkway Station. From Luton Parkway Station there is a Express Shuttlebus to the airport.

Another option is to take the London Underground. Use the Piccadilly line to travel over to Kings Cross. Transfer over to the rail network and take either the Midland service from St Pancras or the First capital Connect service from Kings Cross Thameslink to Luton Parkway Station.

The slowest option is the 285 Heathrow-Feltham Railair bus over to Feltham Station. Take the South West trains route into Vauxhall Station. Switch to the Victoria line on the tube network and take the ride out to Kings Cross Station. Transfer over to the rail network and take either the Midland service from St Pancras or the First Capital Conect service from Kings Cross Thameslink to Luton Parkway Station.

By Road : When leaving Heathrow pickup the West bound section of the M4 at Junction 4 and then join the M25 Northbound Clockwise section at its junction 15. Leave the M25 at its junction 21 and pickup the M1 motorway Northbound. Follow the signs carefully at this point as you will need to make sure you hit the northbound and NOT the south bound section of the M1. Journey will be well sign posted, but you have to make sure you follow the signs for Luton Airport and not for Luton Town itself.
