Newcastle cruise terminal is located adjacent to Royal Quays Marina in North Shields, which is the site of a major development including a yachting marina, hotel, brand outlet shopping centre and waterpark. The area around the port has created new attractions such as the Sage Gateshead Music Centre and The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.

Newcastle Cruise Terminal has seating for 700 passengers and carries approximately 800,000 passengers a year. Cruises from Newcastle offer facilities including six check in desks, baggage handling facilities, a bureau de change, and long and short stay car parks.

How to get to Newcastle Cruise Terminal

By Car :

From Newcastle City Centre take the A1 towards Morpeth and then the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. On Approach to the tunnel, follow the International Ferry symbol onto the A187 towards North Shields.  Continue along this road to the roundabout, take the second exit to the International Ferry Terminal, Royal Quays.

From the North head for the Tyne Tunnel via the A19, then follow the directions as above.

From the South approach via the A19 towards the Tyne Tunnel. Once through the tunnel join the A187 and proceed as above. Please Note: Drivers approaching from the South should allow extra time during the summer months when the tunnel can be extremely busy.

By Bus :

Newcastle Central Station is about 20 minutes by bus from the port.

By Train :

The cruise terminal is located 9 miles or 20 minutes from Newcastle's Central Station by Metro from Percy Main with a further 20 minute walk to the cruise terminal. This railway station offers intercity services serving Edinburgh, York and London. (London can be reached in under three hours).

By Air :

Newcastle International Airport : Newcastle International Airport lies 15 miles to the north of the Cruise Terminal, or 30 minutes by car. Newcastle International airport is served by flights from Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted and Southampton.
